GORILLA TOURS

Gorilla Tracking is one of the most exciting safari adventures in Africa. Gorillas are highly endangered species and there are only 720 Mountain Gorillas left in the world living in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. At Abacus African Vacations, we organize gorilla trekking tours to Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.

It is immensely rewarding seeing these giant but gentle mammals whose DNA is 98%-99% identical to that of humans and they are the next closest to us after the Chimpanzees. Gorillas live in tight- knit units of families headed by a mature adult Male or Silver-back who determines the daily activities of the Family. Gorilla tracking, though exciting is an intense and strenuous experience that can take a half day or even the whole day. In Uganda, Rwanda and Congo, specific mountain gorilla groups have been habituated to allow up close views by human visitors.
