UGANDA GORILLAS, CHIMPANZEE TOUR - 9 DAYS GORILLAS AND CHIMPANZE TRACKING TOUR IN UGANDA

Day 1: TOUR THE ORPHANED CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY

You will be picked from your hotel to UWEC (Uganda Wildlife Education Centre formerly the Zoo). Here you will view the various wild animals that Uganda has. After you will take a boat ride to the Island. On arrival at Ngamba Island, you will be greeted by the duty caregiver of the Chimpanzees and then after you will be able to view and photograph these charming apes in their natural environment from only a few metres away! In the afternoon you will take a boat ride back to Entebbe and return to your hotel for dinner and over night.

Day 2: ENTEBBE - KIBALE NATIONAL PARK

After Breakfast, drive westwards towards Fort Portal. Proceed to Kibale National Park with lush tropical rainforest and fascinating diversity of animals, Kibale National park is one of the beautiful and awe-inspiring forests in Uganda. Certainly, the forest is worth protecting because it is a home to the largest number of Man’s closet relatives the Chimpanzees. This town rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and is well know for the many tea plantations. Dinner and overnight at Ndali Lodge/ Primate Lodge Kibale/ Rwenzori View Guest House or for budget your will stay at Sky tree House.

Day 3: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK & BIGODI SWAMP WALK

Assemble at Kanyankyu tourists Centre at 0800 hours for a preparatory briefing about your Chimpanzee walk. This walk in Kibale Forest  exposes you to the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Have fun whilst on this guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees, Mangabeys, L’Hoest monkeys, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkeys and many others. Take lunch and then go for a Bigodi swamp walk  for your nature walk. The Walk is a local community scheme that takes approximately two hours. The swamp is known for its rich diversity of birds and Flora. Overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.

Day 4: GAME VIEWING TOUR IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Drive to Queen Elizabeth, we will take a visit to the crater Lakes region then after continue to the Mweya Peninsular. This is a marvelous drive with a beautiful panorama via Kasese, with the green valley on the left and the Rwenzori Mountains on your right side. A game drive en route gives you the opportunity to spot waterbucks, warthogs, and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge/ Jacana Safari Lodge or Institute of Ecology Hostel.

Day 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

We begin this day with a game drive to the mating ground of the Uganda kobs along the Kasenyi Miles Track/ Queens Mile. Search for lions, buffaloes, elephants, and other wild animals in their natural habitat, before returning for lunch. Indulge in  a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural water way that links  Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the buffaloes, elephants drinking water along the shores and hundreds of hippos. Retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: CHIMPANZEE TRACKING IN KYAMBURA WILDLIFE RESERVE- BWINDI

After breakfast you will delve through a grassland area and all of a sudden come across an astounding gorge of a hundred meters deep, sheltered with tropical rainforest. You will hike into the gorge of the Kyambura River and seek for the wild chimpanzees. Drive via Ishasha sector towards Bwindi. The scenic route runs through a lush countryside while you bypass traditional farmsteads. Arrive Bwindi in the evening for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Gorilla resort Camp.

Day 7: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

An early morning entry into the Gorilla sanctuary.  Gorilla tracking being the main theme and highlight of this safari! The rangers always brief you on how to behave with these giant apes. Hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park.
Since you are tracking gorillas in their natural habitats, expect long treks because the time taken to encounter them is unpredictable. Trekkers will love the tracking in this picturesque eco system. An encounter of these gentle giants of Bwindi with their dominants the mighty silver backs is elating! Observe them closely while they play, eat, and rest. The time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour for conservation purposes.

Day 8: WILDLIFE TOUR IN LAKE MBURO / RETURN TRIP TO KAMPALA

Early morning exodus to Lake Mburo National Park the only park, which hems in a lake. After lunch go for a game drive in the rolling hills and open grasslands. The beautiful landscape is a habitat to Impala, Waterbuck, Eland, Zebra, Buffalo, Klipspringers, Crested Crane, and the famous Shoebill Stork. Dinner and overnight at Luxury Mantana Tented camp/Basic Rwonyo Rest Camp

Day 9: KAMPALA CITY TOUR & DEPARTURE

Wake up very early in the morning and go for an early morning boat ride on this lake then after transfer to Kampala. Have lunch. Feeling greater than before with an experience of a lifetime and etched in your mind memories you will visit the city attractions. Like Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo martyrs’ shrine, Rubaga and Namirembe Hill, and national theatre the Uganda Museum and surely the African Craft Village. Later we will transfer you to the air port for your  late night flight back home.
