UGANDA SAFARI - 15 DAYS UGANDA GORILLA  EXPEDITION, WILDLIFE SAFARI IN MURCHISON, QUEEN BWINDI- KIBALE NP KAMPALA

DAY 1Arrival at Entebbe,
Arrive in Entebbe, Uganda, transfer to Imperial resort beach Hotel for checking in, orientation. Dinner and over night at Imperial resort beach Hotel.

Day 2.  Relax at the Imperial Botanical Beach

Take break fast Relax at this secluded beach. Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel is the finest convention centre in Uganda and is a global landmark offering technologically advanced conference facilities overlooking the magnificent Lake Victoria. Lunch Dinner and over night at Imperial resort beach Hotel.

DAY 3. Kampala Serena Hotel

Take breakfast and Transfer to Serena Hotel or Grand imperial Hotel in Kampala.
The new Kampala Serena Hotel began life as the Nile Hotel, a government-run 65-room hotel and adjacent conference facility, which was built in 1975. Leased to Serena two years ago, the hotel has been closed for 18 months while, at the cost of a million-and-a-half dollars a month, it was transformed into one of Africa’s most stunning hotels. DAY 4: Kampala - Murchison Falls National Park

Our tour representative and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala and drive you to northwestern Uganda. Moving through a sequence of districts with fertile soils, farmland, woodland and papyrus swamps. In most savanna areas you will notes herds of Ankole cattle with magnificent horns. You will pass via the famed Luwero Triangle Have lunch en route and then continue to Murchison Falls. On your way you will go through the open savanna woodland and extensive grassland. The drive on the southern part of the park is more less a vegan tour because animals can’t cross the Victoria Nile.  Drive to the top of the falls where the White Nile is plunged into a 7 metre wide rock gorge on its way to the Albert Nile. So stunning!!! Drive and check in Paraa safari Lodge /Nile safari camp  for high end / sambiya River Lodge/Red Chillis camp for dinner and over night.      
                   

Day 5 Game Viewing Tour in Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up very early in the morning and take a cup of coffee as you prepare for an early morning game drive in the Northern part of Murchison falls national park.  In this cool morning before the sun rises too high , you will expect encounters of   herds of Buffaloes, Elephants, Rothschild’s giraffe, prides of lions,  the Illusive leopard,  Oribis, Hartebeests, Waterbucks, Kobs, watch elephants as they graze on the grassy hillsides  and many bird species like the Nightjar.  Back in time for late breakfast. Then after relax as you wait for lunch.  In the afternoon, you will take a launch cruise along the Victoria Nile to the bottom of the falls, watch families of Hippos relaxing by the Nile bank, Nile crocodiles will be incubating eggs, as lots of birds stand on the backs of these mammals. You will return to your lodge for dinner and over night.

 

DAY 6 Southern banks of the Nile

Depart at 7a.m if you slept at Paraa safari Lodge, You will have to cross the ferry again to the southern bank ready to You will drive via the Albertine Escarpment of the western Rift valley on the Masindi-Hoima-Fort portal road Stop at the escarpment to have a superlative view over the lake and the distant mountains of Congo.. This will be a drive southwards to Hoima. Drive past Lake Albert en route to Hoima. To avoid a long drive, you will stop Hoima passing though verdant countryside and traditional homesteads and farms. To the long drive to Murchison falls national park, You will stay at Hoima Kolping House.

 

Day 7  Murchison Falls - Fortportal

Leave at 7a.m if you slept at Paraa safari Lodge, You will have to cross the ferry again to the southern bank ready to Kibale Forest National Park.  You will drive through the verdant country side of beautiful and continue to Fort Portal for late lunch and check in at the Ndali lodge/ Primates Lodge / Rwenzori View guest House/ Kanyankyu River Camp.

 

DAY 8 Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale

Assemble at Kanyankyu River camp at 0800hours to go for the most popular activity in this park which is Chimpanzee tracking. Chimpanzees are man’s closet cousins though they are one of the most threatened primate’s species. More primates like Black and white Columbus monkeys, L’Hoest Monkeys, Grey cheecked Mangabey, Red tailed monkeys, bush babies, pottos and many bird species like the yellow spotted nicator, rumped tinker bird, Little greenbul, green breasted pitta, the crowned eagle, black bee eater and mammals like Elephants can be seen   in this walk. Return to your lodge for Lunch. At the Eastern edge of Kibale forest is Bigodi Wetland sanctuary which is maintained by the local community. Go for a nature walk in this swamp which is rich in biodiversity. You will expect birds like the great Blue turaco, blue monkeys, baboons, otters, mangoose, bush bucks, bush pigs and among others.  Return to your lodge for dinner and over night

DAY 9 Game Viewing Safari in Queen Elizabeth

Take break fast very early in the morning and leave this park for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Visit the crater lakes region and then after check in your lodge.  Walk around the Mweya peninsula if you have chosen to stay at Mweya safari Lodge. In the afternoon you will go for an after noon launch cruise along the kazinga channel. This will expose you to a diversity of Hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and bird species like the African Skimmer, papyrus gonelek, the martial eagle, fish eagle, if you are lucky the shoe bill stork and many other Bird species. Queen Elizabeth is know as the birder’s paradise because of it’s diversity of birds. Dinner and over night at Mweya Safari Lodge / Jacana safari Lodge/ the Institute of Ecology.

DAY 10  Chimpanzee Tracking in the Kyambura Gorge

This will be our second day in the Park, we will leave for an early morning game drive in search for animals like lions, elephants, buffalo among others and then return to the lodge for break fast.  Relax at the lodge until lunch time. Then after go for a walk in Kyambura Gorge in the afternoon to look for primates and with a bit of luck even chimpanzees.

DAY 11 Maramagambo Nature Walk

Take time to relax by the swimming pool with a view of the lakes. In this after noon, you will go for a nature walk in the Maramagambo forest. Many surprises await you in this rain forest with a diversity of short guided walks. Pythons are often observed in the crevices of the bats cave as they prey on bats. In this walk you will see the picturesque Blue lake-Kimeranjojo which got its name after swallowing an Elephant. Other trails will lead you to the Crater Lake and habitats of the Wild chimps and forest bird. Take lunch and relax around as you wait for dinner and over night.

DAY 12 Game Viewing Safari in Queen Elizabeth / Transfer to Bwindi

Season allowing, you will drive through the Ishasha sector in search for the tree Climbing Lions. This game drive en route will expose you to some of the animals that you might have missed seeing while on your game drives in Kasenyi and Queens Mile.  Have lunch en route and proceed To Bwindi Impenetrable national park or Kisoro if you are tracking gorillas in Nkuringo family.  You will arrive in the Evening for dinner and over night at Traveler rest camp/ Gorilla Resort camp/ Gorilla Forest camp/ Buhoma homestead/ L. Kitandara luxury tented camps/ Buhoma rest camp.

Day 13 Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Gorilla Forest

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to roughly half of the world's 650 mountain gorillas. We will start hiking early with the game rangers and do your best to find them - but remember, there is no guarantee because this is nature and the time taken hiking depends on the movement of these apes! The gorillas are shy, peaceful animals and it is an unforgettable experience to watch and photograph these gentle giants at close range. We return to Gorilla Resort camp for the night.

Day 14 Nature walk / Gorilla tracking in Bwindi Gorilla Forest

This is another day of gorilla tracking but if you are not interested having been strained the previous day, you will go for a nature walks. This park has 4 stunning incredible hiking trails. On all these trails you have a possibility to see and discover about primates, many avian species butterflies, trees and other organisms. Abacus African vacations arranges this on the package. The guide’s company is mandatory and affords you a brilliant discerning of nature’s system at work in the park.
Departure times:9:00 am and 2:15 p.m.
The Rushers Trail commands expansive views across the western rift valley floor. To the west, Congo’s Parc Nationale des Virungas provides a spectacular backdrop and on clear days Lake Edward and the Rwenzori Mountains are visible.
The 5.2 km Muzabajiro loop trail offers breath taking views of Bwindi Forest, Western Rift Valley and the Virungas. On the way, you bystander hundreds of ancient tree ferns. The top of this trail is a famous place for picnic lunch.
The Munyaga river trail is an ideal short walk for visitors with time to spare. Here you can see birds and primates of the forest  brim
The popular waterfall trail affords an attractive feature of the forest with a cornucopia of tree ferns, orchids, epithetic ferns and Bwindi’s colourful array of butterflies. The trail which leads to 3 delightful crystal clear waterfalls typifies your impression of a tropical rainforest.
The River Ivi trail, so far the longest in the park, will occupy you for a full day, it is highly recommended for bird watchers.  

 

Day 15 Bwindi - Kampala

Drive back to Kampala. Have a stop over at Masaka for lunch and at Equator for pictures and souvenirs .If your flight back home is on this day, you will then have to be transferred to Entebbe International airport for your next flight back home.
This is however a long drive that takes 9 -10 hours.
