UGANDA WILDLIFE SAFARI - 3 DAYS WILDLIFE SAFARI IN QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

It was in 1979, when Queen Elizabeth National Park was devised as a bio-sphere reserve with the extreme goal of matching human activities with the protection and safe guarding of wild life, marshland and natural resources. The park harbors eleven fishing village and the ethnic groups practically fond of area are; Bakiga, Banyankole and Bakonjyo.
Queen Elizabeth National Park QENP together with Kyambura and Kigezi Wild life reserves form one of the most diverse Eco systems in Africa. Here, the dissolving glacier waters of the Rwenzori Mountains of the moon generate an enormous wetland system encompassing two main lakes George and Edward being channeled by the mighty Kazinga Channel to the remote Ishasha River in the south. This park gathers an all-embracing assortment of surroundings that range from savanna and Wetlands to gallery and lowland forest. This outstanding multiplicity is reproduced in its bird list of over 550 species this give  the me the reason to name   it the Bird watchers’ ecstasy. The banks of the channel  assemble thousands of hippos as the unobstructed Savannah spotted with Acacia and Euphorbia trees contains herds of Elephants, Herds of Buffaloes, Lions, Leopards, antelopes like Kobs ,Impalas, water Buck the Uganda Kob making a sound after detection of a prey mammal for alerting others in case of danger and many others.

Facts about Q.E.N.P
It swathes roughly 2056sq-km2, Kyambura wild life reserve covering about 154sq. km2 and Kigezi wild life reserve covering an area of 256sq. km2. It receives an average maximum temperature of 28deg Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius. The park lies on an altitude range of 910 m at lake Edward to 1845 m above sea level that is at the top of the escarpment of the western rift
It is a habitat for a medium altitude moist semi-deciduous forest, riverine bush land,, moist thicket, riparian forest, open grassland, seasonal and permanent swamps, open woodland, lakes and rivers.
This place can be best timed from December – February and the tour can be for at least 2-3 days.
It has recorded about 95mammal species and 606 bird species.

THE KEY BIRD SPECIES IN THE PARK INCLUDE:

Pin-tailed Whyda Martial Eagle, African Fish Eagle, Swamp Fly-catcher, Common Squaco Heron, Grey-headed Kingfisher, The beautiful Black-headed Gonolek, Collard Pranticles, Malachite and Pied Kingfishers, Black-rumped Buttonquail, Gabon and Slender-tailed Nightjars, Great white and Pink-backed Pelicans, African Mourning Dove, African Open-billed Stork Great and Long-tailed Cormorants, White-winged Warbler, Grey-capped Warbler, Shoebill Stork, Papyrus Gonolek, African Jacana, , African Skimmer, White-tailed Lark, Verreaux's Eagle-Owl, Black Bee-eater, Papyrus Canary, White-winged Terns.

 

3 DAYS WILDLIFE SAFARI QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

Day 1: Kampala QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK

At 07hrs00, our tour representative will pick you up and drive you towards the west of Kampala. Along the way, you will have a stop over at the Equator where you will watch some men demonstrating an experiment to test whether water does in fact go in opposite directions down a plug hole on opposite sides of the equator. This experiment is evidence to show that the equator is the separator of the two hemispheres. Many people know that the equator is there, but being there after a short drive is worth while evidence! Take picture and then after proceed via Mbarara, Busenyi, as you watch the long Horned Ankole cattle grazing, tea plantations and people as dressed in their cultural wear. You will reach this part of the Western arm of the rift valley dressed by Savannah woodland by Lunch time. A game drive en route is rewarding with wild game like antelope, buffaloes, elephants and many other animals. Reach the Mweya Penisular and check in Mweya safari Lodge / Institute of Ecology / Jacana Safari Lodge on the Eastern part sector of the park.

Day 2:  GAME DTIVE AND LAUNCH CRUISE ALONG THE KAZINGA CHANNEL

Take a cup of coffee or tea and wake up for the early riser’s game drive along the Kasenyi miles track. As you drive, this early morning, you will see the beautiful mountains of the moon providing a superb panoramic view. Search for animals like Elephants, lions, Uganda kobs, topis, leopards, bushbucks, the Mangoose, waterbucks, and several others plus a variety of bird species and a magnificent vegetation. Return to your lodge for mid morning breakfast and after take lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel. Kazinga channel is naturally and explicitly gifted with abundance of bird species including the , papyrus gonolek, African skimmer, Pelicans , if you are luck; the rare shoebill stock and many others . And some people refer to this park as the bird watchers’ ecstasy! For it provides a good gesture for bird watching. The banks of this channel harbor plenty of hippos, crocodiles and many mammals come to take water along the shores. Return to the lodge for Dinner and over night.

Day 3: MWEYA SAFARI LODGE – MARAMAGAMBO FOREST  NATURE WALK/ CHIMPANZEE TRACKING– KAMPALA

Leave for Maramagambo Forest – one of Uganda’s exceptional tropical forests with multiplicity of plant species. You could take nature walks /   view chimpanzees as well as other primates.(the choice is your).If you take a nature walk, you will  visit the bat caves and the blue lake-Kimerenjojo- most apparently the only one in the whole world! Guide will narrate stories and various theories about this lake , why it is blue and how it got its name Kimera-Njojo a word in a language spoken by people of Western Uganda that means-The one that drowned an elephant! After, you will leave the park and drive to Kampala. Have lunch en route and a stop over at the Mpambire drum makers’ place. You will arrive in the evening and if your flight is on this day, we will provide airport drop off to your group or if not drop you back to your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
